More intensive and effective training

OUR ALTITUDE² CONCEPT

Starting in spring 2026, the AKTIV² Apartment House will be equipped with state-of-the-art hypoxia technology fort successful altitude training in the Alps. Our Altitude² concept, with flexibly adjustable altitude levels, ensures a gradual acclimatization process. This controlled environment minimizes the risks associated with rapid altitude exposure and helps athletes optimize their adaptations according to specific performance goals and current fitness levels. After the adjustment phase, the desired altitude training level can be individually set up to 4,500 meters. Training in Leutasch around the Aktiv² Apartment House allows fort higher intensities and thus stronger training stimuli – “live high, train low”.

Just as professional athletes around the world practice.

live high-train low

and stay with our special altitude air technology, which allows fort constant hypoxic exposure throughout your entire stay in the Aktiv² Apartment. This helps to build up an increased hemoglobin level and enhanced oxygen transport capacity. When altitude training was “invented” in 1968 to prepare athletes fort the Olympic Games in Mexico, they lived and trained at high altitudes. “Live high, train low” is, however, increasingly coming into focus. Living at a moderate altitude utilizes the desired adaptations, while training sessions at lower altitudes allow fort higher quality and faster workouts, such as in Leutasch at 1200 meters above sea level or even lower, like in nearby Innsbruck or the Inn Valley. This allows fort more precise control over load and recovery and more efficient application of key stimuli. “Live high, train high” still retains its significance—such as when preparing fort competitions in the high Areas.

ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES OF THE ALTITUDE² CONCEPT:

UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY IN THE AKTIV² APARTMENT WITHOUT SLEEPING IN A HEIGHT TENT:

An almost silent integrated system provides the hypoxic benefits throughout the entire apartment. This significantly increases the total time spent at the desired altitude compared to sleeping in a height tent.

IMPROVED HEART RATE VARIABILITY (HRV):

Improved HRV indicates better recovery and stress management, which is crucial fort athletes and health-conscious individuals.

IMPROVED VO₂ MAX BOOST:

Altitude increases the body's ability to process oxygen, thereby enhancing endurance and overall cardiovascular performance.

REDUCED RESTING HEART RATE:

After approximately 11 days at a corresponding altitude, the average heart rate typically decreases by 5-8%, reflecting improved cardiovascular efficiency and overall fitness.

POLLEN-FREE AIR:

Artificially generated high-altitude air is usually pollen-free. This is because it is produced in a controlled environment where no pollen or other allergens are present. This type of air is used in our Aktiv² apartments. This makes it particularly suitable fort people with allergies or asthma. For allergy sufferers, artificially generated high-altitude air is a good option. It especially makes nighttime sleep much easier.

Service²

In addition to the comfortable apartments and the beautiful spa area in the Aktiv² Apartment House fort regeneration, you also have the option to book individual coaching at the Institute fort Sports, Alpine Medicine, and Health Tourism of the Tirol Clinics. This way, you can get the most out of your stay – whether you are preparing fort personal bests in sports or simply want to improve your performance. Phone: 50-504-33700 or 33702

FAQ

General

At sea level and at 3,000 meters altitude, the oxygen content in the air is always 21%. However, due to lower air pressure at 3,000 meters, the body has access to only about 70% of the oxygen available at sea level.

Sleeping at the desired altitude of up to 3,000 meters maximizes the build-up of higher hemoglobin levels and oxygen transport capacity. Training sessions at lower altitudes allow for higher quality and speed. Spending the day at moderate altitude — around 1,100 meters in the Leutasch area or in our apartments — supports physical and mental recovery after demanding training and before potential additional training sessions during the day.

This is highly individual and also depends on the set altitude and how the body responds to altitude training. However, sports science suggests approximately 200 hours under hypoxia to achieve a very strong effect. A 14-day stay with us at an Aktiv² Apartment is sufficient to experience very positive results.

Above 2,500 meters above sea level, the body must adapt to altitude in order to absorb sufficient oxygen.

⚠️ Please note! At 3,000 meters above sea level, this can lead to an increased respiratory rate, a faster heart rate, and a slight reduction in performance.

Recommendation! We recommend starting at a slightly lower altitude and increasing it individually on a daily basis using the plus (>) button until reaching the desired target altitude of up to 3,000 meters.

Our Aktiv² concept allows for a daily 15-hour stay at the desired target altitude of up to 3,000 meters in our apartments. The hypoxia period runs from 7:00 PM in the evening until 10:00 AM the following morning. The time between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM is intended for outdoor training, recovery, or enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Leutasch valley.

💡 Keep in mind! Even during this time, you are at an altitude of over 1,100 meters above sea level, which also provides a meaningful stimulus to the body compared to lower elevations.

It’s simple! Activate the iPad in your Aktiv² Apartment using the touchscreen function. After selecting the desired start time and altitude setting for your apartment, the iPad display will enter standby mode after a few minutes. Tapping the iPad display will reactivate it so you can view all current information and make new settings.

It’s simple! Activate the iPad display in your Aktiv² Apartment using the touchscreen function. Press the Start/Stop button on the display to deactivate the hypoxia system.

Altitude Balance is pre-set to 3,000 meters above sea level. This altitude is absolutely sufficient for successful altitude endurance training. Of course, you can adjust the desired altitude at any time and in any room of the apartment via the iPad display — reduce it using the minus (<) button. We recommend starting at a slightly lower altitude and increasing it individually each day using the plus (>) button until reaching your desired target altitude.

The iPad display shows the current values for altitude/O₂ and CO₂.

⚠️ Important! To ensure optimal operation during hypoxia hours, windows and doors must remain closed between 7:00 PM and 10:00 AM. The bathroom door should also always remain closed, except when entering or exiting.

Between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM, windows and doors can be opened freely to ventilate the apartment.

The system is configured to always maintain a sufficient oxygen level of at least 13% in the apartment. Should a guest feel unwell, we recommend either reducing the altitude setting or leaving the room for a period of time.

For your safety! We generally recommend measuring blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) at regular intervals during your stay at altitude — always on the index finger of the left hand. Blood oxygen saturation should not fall below 92%. For personal safety monitoring, guests should bring their own pulse oximeter with an alarm function. We strongly recommend measuring and documenting SpO₂ for at least the first 4–5 nights.

For your safety! Before your first stay and training session under hypoxia, it is recommended to undergo an altitude tolerance test to ensure a comfortable stay and successful training in Leutasch. Please research available options in your home area online. Upon request, you may also take this test through our partner institution, the Institute for Sports and Alpine Medicine and Health Tourism at Tirol Kliniken: Phone +43 50 504-33700 or -33702.

Our hypoxia system is a modern technical installation that requires compressed air. The airflow entering through a sound dampener produces a quiet sound similar to an air conditioning unit. The opening and closing of the valve — which regulates the desired altitude — produces a soft humming sound, similar to a refrigerator.

Every well-trained athlete with a healthy awareness of their body should know their blood values. To enable an optimal altitude training analysis with a sports physician, the following blood values should be measured:

  • Hemoglobin
  • Hematocrit
  • Erythrocytes
  • Ferritin
  • Vitamin B12 (current level)
